KABOOM SHOW, Sunday 8pm to 10pm

I have been musical from the day I was born.   My dad was an accomplished piano, Hammond organ, and finally electric piano/synth player. He played in well-established dance bands throughout Kent and the South East of England.  Gigging most Saturday nights music was his passion as was Jazz and Jazz Funk. It was he that introduced me to the likes of George Duke, Azymuth and Spyro Gyra.
At the age of six I started music lessons at school learning the Clarinet, then later the Tenor Sax, Bassoon and Oboe. All wind lol.
I achieved Royal School of Music Grade 8, and an O’level in Music. I was lucky enough to be selected for the NW Kent Orchestra, and as my coloured friend Adrian Grant reminds me decades later. Greenie you are a recorded musician.  So, the upshot of all this is that I shouldn’t be beat, key or tone deaf, and know a bar from a demi quaver.
I first started venturing out as a young adult to the likes of Flicks in Dartford, the Marlowe Rooms Sidcup, Stage 3 Leysdown, and up town to the Lyceum and Hammersmith Palace. Soul, Disco, Jazz Funk and Street Sounds were in there prime.  I was soon arriving home later than my dad after his “Band Jobs” attending all-nighter’s etc.
My younger brother is also an accomplished musician and DJ in his own right. A brilliant Drummer, he has taught drums, session played for the BBC, been selected into Battle of the Band put together groups, and played with the likes of Odyssey.  He also DJ’d on the Manchester and Liverpool club circuit and held down the lead Saturday night slot in prime Matthew Street club for several years. So, I’ve learnt a bit from him!
My passion for music has continued to remain strong throughout my life, I enjoy listening to it and playing it, and I enjoy all sorts of music from Classical to Modern Club Music and everything in between.  Most people listen to tracks and lyrics, I have a slightly different lens, and listen to the musicians and what they must be doing to create it.
I am the partner of DJ Miss Behaving and have supported both Debbie, and Soulbeat Radio over the past four years. I have been continuously linked to the Soul Scene as a punter for many years.
I am currently helping Soulbeat with their marketing material, and DJ onboarding.  You may find me covering Soulbeat schedule slots as BrianG, as we endeavour to keep it live and expand the growing team.
Enjoy the station, and it’s DJs, passionate about music, as I am.
